The business of North Beach is small business, and we all stand together.

It's a challenging time for small business in our boom and bust city, with rising rents, the cost and scarcity of labor, and profound shifts in demographics and retail trends. North Beach, with its diverse mix of legacy and new businesses serving longtime locals and tourists alike, has become the face of a changing city striving to hold onto its identity.

On St. Patrick's Day in March 2018, our community suffered from a devastating four alarm fire at 653-679 Union Street, an historic 1914 building that served as the keystone of Washington Square Park. At least 6 businesses, 50 workers and 8 residents were impacted. The loss adds to the challenges of an already struggling, but well-trafficked, section of Columbus Avenue near the park that should be thriving.

North Beach Neighbors' is committed to keeping our neighborhood vibrant. Check for more information on our Small Business projects soon.
